May 14, 2005: 11th Annual River Cleanup.

This will be the 11th Annual Edition of this very popular community event. This is a bona fide family outing when the town gets together to have fun cleaning up its rivers for the summer tourist season. The event features food, fun, prizes, and a live band. All participants get a specially designed commemorative T-shirt. More than 100 local merchants participated in the 2004 event, donating more than $10,000 worth of food, supplies, and prizes. July 17- 22, 2005: Summer Academy.

The River Association will team up this summer with the NM Environmental Department, NANL, and others, to bring the popular WERC Summer Academy to Ruidoso this summer. The Academy will support 20-25 teams of teachers and high school students from around the state for a hands-on study of "Water Quality in the Rio Ruidoso Watershed."
